1) What is independent cinema and how is it different to Hollywood blockbusters?
The style of ‘indie’ films is very different from Hollywood blockbusters, as the directors and producers have more creative input. They have an extremely small budget compared to Hollywood blockbusters.

2) What is I, Daniel Blake about?
Daniel Blake is a 59-year-old widowed carpenter who must rely on welfare after a recent heart attack leaves him unable to work. Despite his doctor's diagnosis, British authorities deny Blake's benefits and tell him to return to his job. As Daniel navigates his way through an agonizing appeal process, he begins to develop a strong bond with a destitute, single mother who's struggling to take care of her two children.

The film was directed by Ken Loach who is well known for directing political indie films and exposing and educating people about the issues that many people in society face,relating to the story of  I Daniel Blake.

The movie was promoted using guerilla campaigning it encouraged free screenings at people's homes and in the community, projected quotes onto the Houses of Parliament and asked people who had been denied benefits to draw attention to the movie.

I think it was a huge success from the amount they made which was 5x more they were estimated with such a low budget with a total of £9M
